Implant-Retained Dental Crowns & Bridges

The reason dental implants are so special is that they actually replace the entire structure of your missing tooth from root to crown. This new root will be a small titanium post that is surgically placed directly into your jawline. This not only provides an extremely solid base for your replacement teeth, but it also supports your jaw just like natural teeth. This will help it maintain its shape and strength for years to come, which is something you simply can’t get with other treatments.

Once your new roots have been placed, we can utilize a variety of restorations to give you back your smile. For a single tooth, we’ll use something called an implant-retained crown, which will be made entirely of dental porcelain. This material is extremely tough and durable, and it can also be shaped and sculpted to perfectly mimic the appearance of a natural tooth as well. Frankly, once it is placed, the only person who will know it is not a real tooth will be you! The smooth porcelain will even feel like real enamel against your tongue.

If you have a row of missing teeth, an implant-retained crown can be attached to a row of prosthetic teeth that sit on your gums, forming a bridge. Implant-retained bridges have been shown to last twice as long as traditional ones, and they don’t require any of your remaining healthy teeth to be filed down to accommodate supporting crowns.

Once you have either of these restorations placed, you only need to take care of them like your natural teeth to make them last for decades. Routine brushing, flossing, and checkups at Anderson Family Dental will keep them looking and feeling like new for years to come. They really are the most permanent solution when it comes to your missing teeth.
